KING OF THE COURT 2004 - ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW
Created by Andre Gorgievski
and David Coles
King of the Court is a free 3on3 basketball tournament
initiated by MSF and previously sponsored by Nike, for
players of all ages both male and female, to come together
and compete in a positive, exciting environment in front
of large crowds. |
|
From
the 16th to the 26th of September 2004, more than 80
players battled it out in the 1 on 1 competition, with
$500 up for grabs to the last man standing. Even though
the competition was based on finding a King of the court,
we made sure we gave players of all ages the chance
to play and be a part of it.
For the 11 days we had more than 1000 players involved.
This tournament was initially expected to be a great
way to promote basketball, display the competitive and
friendly atmosphere street basketball is all about.
We organised and managed the tournament for the entire
11 days, 10 hours a day, without any pay or profit.
That's love for ball.
Nike did an awesome job in setting up and sponsoring
the event, proving once again that Nike run the courts
and share our love and vision to bring basketball back
to the top in Australia, where it belongs. All in all,
King of the Court was a free event for the people that
will no doubt be remembered for years to come
