The sun was up and MSF was down at Prahran Park on Saturday the 3rd (FEB) being the initiators of this perfect day merging basketball and hip-hop together on the streets. MSF didn’t want to go too major with this, so we decided to do it old school style, tell everyone and let the word do the spreading.

From a few emails and text messages, more than one hundred players around Melbourne came together for a day we’ll all remember for a long time as the best day this summer.

The original plan was to do this day 2 weeks earlier, but the rain made sure the music stayed silent while the players headed off to MSAC. So just 2 weeks later we were back at it again, simply calling out every player we knew to meet us at Prahran. This was no event, it was a celebration. Just like calling up your boys for a game, we called up all of you.

The day was like no other, players from the east, players from the west, players from around the corner, all coming together for one purpose, to play ball while having a good time. It was a great thing for us to see players we’ve met from King of the Court, through the website or down at MSAC, all in the one place at the one time.

From about 1pm till 7, the games could not and would not stop for nothing. We hooked up some shade and water for the ballers while the winners kept smiling and the losers kept re-trying. DC, Dre, Sok and Davor from MSF all represented the name best they know how. Nick, the winner of KOTC1 was on the court showing why he was our first tournament champion. Monkeyz and his Melbourne’s Finest crew were also there showing they had more than tricks. Dre’s YMCA boys he coaches were all there showing what they were taught. The Sudanese boys showed they had some rising talent to look for on the court and in the air. Dmac’s son’s Tater and Kid Mac were doing their thing, either on the court or behind the mic all day. And to the rest of the players who were there either supporting MSF or just having a great day out, we appreciate your presence.

We even had a player fly down from Sydney for the weekend to join MSF while taking a short holiday. Thanks for your help Matt, we more than appreciate your commitment and passion for the game by making the trip down to Melbourne.

Calski from Hip Hop crew Microphonics was the man behind the beats, bringing along the equipment while being there with MSF all voluntarily for the love of the game. Thanks to Tater for stepping up as the voluntary MC giving out a name to the players with game. Also we have to give a big thanks to 6 Ace’s, Kid Mac, Chase, Jamaka and Tessa for putting on a great performance while bringing their beats to the streets. Appreciation is an understatement.

Thank you all. We'll be down at Prahran Park every Saturday this Summer so we hope to see you all again every week! And maybe we'll even hook up some music again...

Stay tuned with MSF, all day every day.
