| MSF
MSF stands for the Major Street-basketball Foundation. MSF
is all about promoting basketball in Australia on all levels,
by creating greater opportunities for everybody to play the
game. The challenge that keeps us driven is continuously doing
our part to help bring basketball back to the top in Australia,
to the level it once was, and beyond. More people in Australia
play basketball than cricket, football, rugby or soccer, our
mission is to increase this trend by introducing people to
not only play basketball, but to also support the game we
love. MSF is what basketball in Australia has always needed.
MSF is also about getting involved in the community, getting
the youth active and creating positive opportunities for people
of all ages. Our intention is to inspire and influence others
to also do great things for the people of their community.
Through MSF, we hope to set the example of what can be achieved. |

The
Reason
As the 90s came to an end, basketball in Australia was at
a cross-road. The game was showing very few signs of growth
after experiencing a decline in popularity when Jordan retired
and the NBA was taken off our TV sets. The local National
Basketball League was also in need of a resurgence. When the
NBA was popular in Australia, the NBL was experiencing record
crowds. As the game struggled to progress over the years at
the same level of success, it felt like nothing major was
being done to re-ignite the game that was once considered
the boom sport throughout Australia. We decided if nobody
was going to step up for us, it was up to us to step up for
the game, to be the change in basketball we had always hoped
for. |

The
Beginning
MSF was put together by a group of passionate basketball players
in Melbourne, Australia, at the beginning of 2002. The idea
was to create a positive foundation, start an online petition
and gather support to get a new outdoor court built in Melbourne's
city, ultimately making basketball more accessible and free,
while getting the game outdoors and exposed to a lot more
people. Though over the years, the MSF mission has become
much more than that. MSF has grown into a movement of basketball
visionaries and players across Australia who are determined
to make a difference by contributing to the success of basketball
in this country. MSF takes pride in leading by example, inspiring
others to step up, speak up and believe that anything is possible. |

| Mission
Statement
MSF has become a symbolic representation of all the basketball
players and fans across Australia, and many other countries
where basketball is in a similar situation. MSF is more than
just a foundation, it's a belief, a love for the game that
we share. MSF is home to the community and culture of basketball
in Australia, and together we will continue to elevate the
game. |

| Behind
MSF
The crew behind MSF are multi-talented and passionate when
it comes to basketball. With years of experience on the court,
managing events, coaching kids, and having a range of qualifications,
the MSF crew have been able to achieve dreams that a lot of
people considered impossible.
MSF is mostly known for hosting the KING OF THE COURT basketball
event at Australia's largest community festivals, influencing
the local council to upgrade Prahran Park for 70,000 government
dollars, influencing the world-famous AND1 basketball team
to visit Prahran Park, writing for national magazines (Out4Fame,
Acclaim and Handle), doing halftime freestyle shows at NBL
games, and just recently teaming up with Downtown3 to host
Australia's most complete basketball camps.
MSF has also been involved with youth and multi-cultural
events in the community, guest speaking at seminars, school
clinics, providing guidance to players who want to go further
in basketball, and offering assistance to anybody working
on an event or project. The MSF goal is to influence people
around Australia to step up in their communities, plan an
event, start a petition, coach a few kids some fundamental
values of the game, whatever it is; as long as our actions
have a positive influence, basketball will continue to rise. |
